Show Your Family Some Love with the Right Replacement Windows

As a replacement window contractor who serves the greater Twin Cities area, we see a lot of houses and we meet with hundreds of owners.  Just about every homeowner we talk to wants to be proud of the home they own, and so keeping it in good shape and maintaining its appearance is important.  But have you ever thought of your house as a love letter to those who live inside it? The way it looks when they come home can affect their mood.  And the right touches – indoors and out – can silently communicate that they are cared about.  While you can achieve that with furniture, decorations, and special touches, there are structural elements that can convey your care for them as well.  Windows are part of that.  Perhaps it’s time to think about replacing yours if they don’t give off the message you’re trying to send.

Do your windows operate correctly?  Windows that stick or won’t stay open will cause frustration and annoyance every time someone goes to use them.  Life is stressful enough, so if there are things you can do to eliminate some for your household, why not take the steps to do so?  Old windows – especially the wood frame ones – can warp over time or shrink in their openings. Hardware can break. Imagine being able to replace those old windows with new ones that easily glide open and stay that way until you want to close them!

Are your windows the right style for the room/application?  This is one thing we look at in particular with homeowners. There is no rule that says you must have the same style window in every room of your home. In fact, certain window styles are better than others for particular purposes.  For example, if you’ve got double hung windows over your kitchen sink, they might be a real challenge, reaching over the sink and getting enough leverage to get them open.  A better window solution for this spot is either a glider window or a casement.

Do your windows let in drafts?   Air leakage is something that’s noticed more often in the winter than in the summer, but if that cold air is getting in during the winter months, hot air is finding its way in now, too.   Not only can this cause high heating and cooling bills but also uncomfortable rooms nobody wants to spend time in.  Imagine curling up on the couch under a set of windows, planning on watching your favorite Christmas movie and you get hit with a cold draft.  Are you going to want to stay there very long?  If that’s the case at your house, time for new windows in that spot!

Are your windows easy to clean? This is one you probably don’t think about, but we can guarantee you that whoever handles the window cleaning gets impacted whenever the job needs to be done.  The chore may get postponed or griped about if those windows are difficult to clean, such as needing to take a ladder and a bucket of soapy water outside, moving it from window to window.  Today’s high-tech replacement windows have features such as tilt-in sashes, making cleaning from the indoors a breeze.  And we also install certain windows that have the option of Neat Glass, a revolutionary technology that allows the window to ‘clean itself’ whenever there is a rain. Now, imagine how loved the window cleaning person would feel to have that!

So if you’ve decided it’s time to show your home and those who live in it a bit more love, we’d be happy to talk with you about replacement windows solutions that will work for your house, your budget, and your family.  Contact us today for a no-obligation consultation.
