Minneapolis Homes Can Get Major Curb Appeal with Colored Front Doors

If you just have room in your budget for one home improvement project this year, make it a new front door.  And make it a colorful one!  The front entry area is the first thing people notice about a home.  As you’re driving around the Minneapolis area, pay attention to the homes that draw your eye.  Chances are they have stand-out front doors.

The Five Most Popular Front Door Colors

Colored front doors have been trending for more than a few years, and as a Minneapolis exterior door company, we pay attention to trends that affect our industry.  Based on what we’ve observed, the colored front door is here to stay.  But what’s interesting is how the preferred colors have shifted slightly over time.  Red front doors emerged as the leader a number of years ago, but we’ve also seen bright yellows, oranges, and more.  Our door partner, ProVia, shares that among their customers, these are the most popular entry door colors.  Note that of the five, three are blue!

Deep Blue:  Very popular with homeowners going for a nautical theme, but deep blue combines well with a variety of neutral color palettes, especially the greys

  • Blueberry:  Also a deeper blue shade but Blueberry is a little brighter.  it works well with earth tones.  (Shown here with matching sidelights.)
  • Robin’s Egg:  Also in the blue family, this pale shade livens up darker color palettes.  It’s a stand-out with black or charcoal
  • Cabernet:  This wine color is a variation on the popular red but with a deeper tone.  Pairs well with many different colors but works especially well with brick or stone exteriors.
  • Plum:  This purple shade is technically in the blue family.  Plum is subdued and muted.  It’s very popular on modern style homes and pairs well with earth tones, especially greens and browns.

If you’d like to give your home an updated look, why not schedule an appointment at our Savage showroom to take a look at these and other colors available in entry doors from ProVia!  They have more than 25 shades to choose from, and they periodically adjust their color lineup to reflect current color trends.
