Tips for Choosing More Affordable Minneapolis Replacement Windows

First off, as one of the leading replacement window companies in the Minneapolis area, our goal is to provide the perfect window solution for each customer.  And for many homeowners we work with, the cost is at the top of the list.  Of course, one of the benefits of replacing old windows with modern energy-efficient ones is a savings on heating and cooling.  Depending on the condition of the windows replaced, there’s usually an increase in home value as well.  And maintenance-free exterior frames save money on upkeep.  These savings all grow over time, but what do you do if the up-front cost is a major factor?

We work with each customer, taking into account the things that are important to them.  Then we make several suggestions on what we believe is the best window replacement plan.  But we’ve also got some general tips on making the most of your home improvement dollars when you replace your old windows.

  • Keep in mind that it’s not necessary to replace all your windows at once.  You can choose to replace the worst ones first, then the others as finances allow.  For example, if you’ve got rooms that are especially drafty, the windows in those areas may take priority.
  • Consider more economical alternatives.  Economical doesn’t mean cheap, though.  You can get great quality, good-looking windows that won’t break the bank.  For example, if you love the look of real wood but know it’s out of your budget (wood windows are generally more costly than other types such as vinyl and fiberglass), you might opt for wood-look vinyl windows.  Or perhaps you might replace windows in rooms that get a lot of daytime use (such as living rooms, dining rooms, and kitchens) with wood-clad windows and then use a more economical type of window such as vinyl for bedrooms and bathrooms.
  • Choose the least costly style window.  That includes the add-ons or higher cost options.  Generally a plain double-hung window will be the most inexpensive.  If you’ve got your heart set on another more attractive window style, perhaps have that style installed in your living room, where it’s visible from the street as well as being in a room you’re likely to spend time in.

One thing we’d like to point out is that you shouldn’t rely on price alone to determine which windows to choose.  We can work with you to find the most economical solution for you and your home.  Contact us today – our consultations are free and no obligation.  We serve the entire Minneapolis metro area as well as surrounding communities such as Prior Lake, Lakeville, and Eden Prairie.
