The energy-efficient exterior doors we install on homes and businesses in the greater Minneapolis St. Paul area include:
In this post we’d like to focus on French doors. While most people picture these doors as an interior option, French doors work well as both entry doors and patio doors. (Don’t confuse double doors with a center post that swing open in opposite directions with French doors; French doors have no center post or mullion.)
Shown in this photo (courtesy of Marvin) is a typical French door; note the lack of a center post. Doors can be installed to swing out, swing in, or swing in opposite directions. Generally when used as a front entry, doors would swing in; when used as a patio door, they would swing out.
French doors have definite advantages over other types of door configurations in that they can swing open to provide the maximum area.
There may be concerns you have that have held you back from choosing French doors; we’ll address these in a future blog post. Or we’d love to meet with you in person – either at a private appointment at our Savage door showroom or in your home. You just might find that French doors are just what you need to give your home a new look!
