The extension is a perfect way to fill the gable section above, and curved shape adds some contrast to otherwise angular construction. And note the window frames match the siding; the contrasting trim actually acts as a frame for this entire window combination.
As you can see by looking at the far right side, the windows in this home are mainly casement windows. These are some of the most energy-efficient windows available. They catch the breeze from various directions, since you can crank in or out as needed. The half-round window above is fixed, but that doesn’t matter because it’s in an area not easily accessible. Keep this and other specialty shape windows in mind when you want to add more light to an area and ventilation doesn’t matter.
