Replacing a front door continues to be one of the top home remodeling projects in terms of return on investment. Steel doors come out ahead, but they are followed closely by fiberglass doors. Either material stands up well to Minnesota weather, which is one reason we recommend them instead of wood.
Of course, the value added to your home won’t be a benefit until the time comes for you to sell your home, so it’s nice to know that exterior door replacement brings lots of other perks along as well. One of those is curb appeal. Shown here is a stunner from ProVia in Cabernet, but there are other red shades available. What’s curb appeal?
It’s hard to define, but basically it’s the overall look of a home’s exterior from the front that catches people’s eyes as they drive by. But it’s also something that gives you a feeling of satisfaction when you drive up to your house and get a swell of pride in how it looks. That’s something you can’t put a price on. Plus if you live in a development where the homes all look much the same, having a brightly colored front door can make your home stand out among those around it. How easy it would be to tell visitors, “Look for the brick house with the red front door.”
