Are Minnesota Replacement Windows Really Worth It? (SPOILER ALERT: We Think They Are)

Homeowners all around the Twin Cities are enjoying this warm weather, finally. We even see those wonderful signs of spring – open windows.  As you’re opening your windows to let in fresh air and start on your spring cleaning, have you noticed they don’t slide as easily as they used to?  Or maybe they don’t stay up.  Or you had some major drafts this winter.  All these could be signs that it’s time to replace your windows.

But is window replacement really worth the time and cost?

Of course, as a Minneapolis window company, we are highly in favor of helping homeowners replace their windows. When you install new energy-efficient windows, so many great things can happen. And now that spring is here, it might just be time to replace yours. Outdated, energy-wasting windows could be costing you more than you know in terms of money, time, and frustration. Knowing whether or not window replacement is really worth it can help you make the decision to do so now.

Energy-Efficient, Quality Replacement Windows Offer a Great ROI

When you replace older windows throughout your home with newer, updated windows, then you can easily find that these bring back a healthy return when the time comes to sell your home. Buyers prioritize homes with energy-efficient features.  If you’re offering them to prospective home buyers, this is a win, because those windows will add to the value of your home plus make it easier to sell.

Okay, you’re not planning on selling your home any time in the foreseeable future, so are there other benefits you can enjoy now?  YES!

Increased Energy Savings

Saving money is always a plus. Did you know that the greatest energy loss in a home is through its window openings? Energy-efficient windows can cut down on that.

When it comes to putting cash down on new windows, that investment will be saving you cash in the long run, every month. You should be able to see a difference in your utility bills.  You don’t have to waste as much energy heating and cooling the home. And because your furnace and air conditioning units won’t need to work as hard, you’ll be saving wear and tear on them as well.

And did you know that certain types of windows can actually let more sunlight into your home?  That could mean you don’t need to turn on your lights indoors as often during the daytime.  Fiberglass windows, for example, have thinner frames than other windows, so you get more glass area in the same size opening.  Or you might opt for a different style window that lets in more light.  Replacing your over-the-sink double hung kitchen window with a garden window will bring in light on all three sides plus from above. A bay or bow window instead of a flat picture window will also give you more light.

Better for the Environment

When you replace the windows in the home, you are doing the environment a solid. When you work with us and the window manufacturers we represent, you’re choosing windows that will last for years, but you’re also doing your  part to reduce the amount of wasted energy your home might experience.  Our windows are all low- or no-maintenance, which means less time and energy for repairs and upkeep as well.

Enjoy More Comfort Indoors

If there is anywhere you should be comfortable, it is in your own home.  If you have old, leaky windows that create drafts, then the comfort aspect is not going to be there.  Well-fitting, energy-efficient windows go a long way to creating a comfortable environment indoors.

If you are ready to replace the windows throughout your home, give us a call. We would be more than happy to place some new windows throughout your home and ensure that they are all Energy Star certified, so you get many great benefits from them.
