Bay Windows are Beautiful on the Inside and Out for Minneapolis MN Homes

06jun24d4a14When you are thinking of switching out the windows in your Minneapolis MN area home, you should consider bay windows. This is because they are able to add the style that you would like your home to have. Not only that, but it provides this style on both the inside and the outside of the home.  On the interior of your home you’ve got more decorating options, and on the exterior you’ve got more visual appeal, since the window front isn’t flat – it protrudes from the house.

If your aim is to see your house stand out in the neighborhood, here are some tips for making your bay window the focal point in your beautiful home.

First consider all the windows on the outside. What does the trim look like? What do you want the trim to look like? If you really want to draw attention to your windows, make sure to choose a color that is able to contrast against the base color of the siding of your home. This will make all of the windows in the home stand out or ‘pop’ right out of the home and can give it more appeal from the street.

  • Place items inside the home in front of the window.  Bay windows are great spots for plants and decorative items, and they’re also the perfect spot for a window seat.
  • When adding treatments to the windows, choose ones that are less noticeable.  Many homeowners simply drape the window area with a swag rather than closing it off with draperies. You want to outline and make the windows stand out instead of covering and hiding them from view.  (For some ideas, visit our Pinterest Creative Window Treatments board.)
  • Make sure to choose furniture that is able to look the best when it is hit with natural light. You will have a lot of light coming through so you want to make sure that the furniture that you choose is not too wild. You do not want something that stands out too much when people can see in the big window.
  • If your trim matches your siding or is not high contrast, consider adding shutters in a contrasting color.  Shutters can really draw the eye to the window.
