The Best Window Styles for a Bathroom Remodel

Bathrooms are one of the most regularly used sections of a Minneapolis home, and they say a lot about you. A stylish and well-appointed bathroom can help make the rest of your home look nicer as well.

Adding quality fixtures, showers and tubs is one way to enhance the space, but a nice window or two can really help improve upon a bathroom space. Below are some of the best bathroom window options for your consideration from our replacement window contractors.

Bathroom Window Ideas

Slider or Glider Windows

One advantage of a sliding window in a bathroom is that it’s very easy to open.  That makes this style window perfect for a spot such as above a tub where it might be difficult to open a double hung window.  Sliders offer many of the same benefits of casement windows; in addition, they’re a better option where you may not have the exterior clearance a casement window needs.

The photo at right shows slider windows from Pella, one of the premium brands of windows we install.

Casement Windows

Casement windows are a good addition to smaller bathrooms and offer excellent ventilation when necessary. These simple windows open up with a crank and can give you ventilation of the entire window, rather than half the surface that would be offered by a single or double hung window. They also help to make the space feel more open by offering an unimpeded view of the outdoors.

Picture Window

Picture windows make an excellent addition to bathrooms because they open them right up and allow a huge amount of light to flood in. These windows generally don’t open and won’t work for ventilation purposes, but they do create a spectacular view that’s nice for bathroom use. You’ll just want to add curtains or blinds for privacy purposes.

Bay Windows

Bay windows serve two major purposes. The first is to open up your space with multiple windows and a protrusion out of the wall, but also to create more storage space. These windows make excellent shelves and work well next to a bath tub when you want a place to set shampoo and other items. Consider adding one to a small bathroom to open up the space.

Most people spend a large amount of time in the bathroom of their home. It’s best to make it look as good as possible to enhance that time. The window options above will help you make the most of that space, especially if it is a smaller bathroom that you want to open up and make feel larger.

Here are some of the other window options you can choose from when it comes to upgrading your bathroom.  You might consider a specialty shape window if all you want is light and ventilation is not a need.  And of course, in many instances, the common double-hung window will work just fine.  For inspiration, we’ve got a board on Pinterest with lots of bathroom window ideas.
