Did Winter Bring You Window Pain?

ed03mar19c3a15All over the world people are forced to endure long, cold winter months. Snow and ice can have tremendous effects not only on your mind and body, but your home as well. Houses in the Minneapolis area usually withstand most of Mother Nature’s abuse, but unfortunately, many still end up with quite a bit of damage once the winter has left us. Ice melts and the pretty spring birds begin to sing their long-missed songs, but you notice your house has taken a beating.  Now that spring is here, you would be wise to check for winter damage  and carefully inspect your windows.

If you notice problems with your windows, it’s probably time for new replacement windows.  New windows can provide a beautiful look, and the efficiency you deserve.

A crack in your windowpane is an obvious sign of damage, and this will need to be attended to as soon as possible. Shattering glass is never a good thing and the repair is best made sooner rather than later. A draft can be felt when the freezing ice has caused your window frame to contract and then expand when it warms up. This causes nasty settling, and usually a drafty window means it’s time for replacement. The worst however, is water damage. Water damage occurs when water sits on the window frame, and it can actually cause serious damage to the entire structure of your home if it gets down into the wall around the window.

While these problems and occurrences are happening all around the globe, these particular conditions tend to be common here in the Twin Cities. Finding a MN window company that’s not going to charge you a frozen arm and leg can be almost as enduring as the winter. Certainly, all window contractors for Minneapolis and St Paul alike will cost you a fair share of dead presidents, but weigh your options. Failing to replace your damaged windows will cost you far more in the long run.  When you choose a replacement window company, look for one that installs top-quality energy-efficient windows and is on the list of recommended contractors for the windows they install.  Here at Window Outfitters we are a Pella-certified contractor, and we work closely with a number of other great window manufacturers.

We know when it comes to the cost of replacing your windows, there are several factors to consider, but take a quick look at your utility bills. The electric and gas you’ll pay for to keep your drafty house warm (or cool, come summer) will be far greater than the cost of replacing your windows, so don’t let those old windows cost you and your family any more than necessary. Do yourself a giant favor – eliminate that window pain, and contact Window Outfitters for an estimate today.
