Attention Minneapolis area homeowners: DId you have your windows replaced last year with energy-efficient ones? If so, check with your income tax professional to see if you qualify for a tax credit. (Even if you’ve already filed, it may be worth it to file an amended return to take advantage of this.)
While most tax credits for energy-efficient remodeling have faded into the distant past, there are still a few that remain in place. For example, if you replace windows or skylights with those that meet the EPA’s EnergyStar standards (the ones we install do), you most likely qualify. These credits are good for purchase and installation between January 1, 2023 through December 31, 2032.
Other energy-efficient items such as heat pumps, insulation, furnaces, and air conditioners also qualify, and there are separate categories with limits. The good news? You can claim more than one type of credit, although there is an annual aggregate maximum.
