What Are the Benefits of Garden Windows?

The greenhouse window – also referred to as a garden window – is one of the most unique window styles on the market.  Also available from some of our other window manufacturers, these windows do more than just give you a spot for plants.

• Since these windows protrude from the exterior wall of your home (much like a bay or bow window), they bring in light from three sides as well as the top.  Installing a garden window can light up what would otherwise be a dim spot. And the more natural light the better – it’s good for your mental and physical health, and if you’ve got lots of sunlight coming in,you can cut down on your use of electric lights.
• And just as this window design allows sunlight to come in from several directions, with the side casements you get air flow from both sides.  Casement windows are excellent at directing air flow, because the sashes can be opened to catch breezes and bring them indoors.
• Imagine all the things you could grow with a setup like this!  We hear from many of those who have them in their kitchens that they are the perfect place for growing fresh herbs and that kitchen standby for burns, aloe vera.

Greenhouse Windows Aren’t Just for Kitchens

Finally, don’t let the picture above limit your imagination.  Other places where these garden windows work well are bathrooms (a great spot for plants that love high humidity, like tropical species) or living rooms and dining rooms.  And they don’t have to be just for plants.  Because of the shelf space, they can be used as display space for decorative items.
