Minnesota Winters May Have You Considering Insulated Vinyl Siding

While winter seems to want to hang on here in the Twin Cities area, it’s a good time to consider how the cold weather affects your home.  If you’re thinking about having siding installed this year, we believe you should consider having insulated vinyl siding installed, particularly because it provides a great barrier against winter weather.

Premium insulated vinyl siding is a an extremely attractive product to have on your home. Yes, it’s a great looking siding, but when it comes to the insulating and energy efficient properties that it brings with it, there really are no other siding products that come close.  (Shown at right is Craneboard D6 , an insulated vinyl siding, in Country Beige; photo courtesy of Exterior Portfolio.)

Why Is Insulated Vinyl Siding a Great Choice for Minnesota Homes?

One of the premium siding products we install on homes in the St. Paul and Minneapolis area is Craneboard insulated vinyl siding by Exterior Portfolio.  This is why insulated siding is becoming more popular with Minnesota homeowners today. Since you can lower those energy costs and have visual appeal at the same time, it is a win-win.

But is insulated siding the best siding to go with for your home?  Here are some considerations to help you evaluate that.

Are You Home More Often Than Not?  We realize that some homeowners in our area are snowbirds.  If you will be gone most of the time throughout the winter months and will have your furnace turned down, then perhaps you don’t have to worry about the heating bills during this season. However, if you are going to be home in that cold season, and if you’ll have family coming and going and want to provide a comfortable, inviting atmosphere for them, then insulated siding is ideal.

How Do Your Energy Bills Look? Are they too high? This is a big factor for so many to choose a new siding on their home. By sealing the outside of the home and providing more insulation for it, then you can make sure that the home stays comfortable through and through without having to crank the thermostat up or wear a sweater indoors.  But if your home is already well insulated and your heating bills are fairly reasonable, you may decide it’s not worth the added expense.  But for most homeowners, that’s not the case.

How is the Weather In Your Neighborhood?  We know that not all areas of our state have the same weather. Some parts are more consistent, while others have variations in extreme temps throughout the winter.  If it is warm and then hot, then cold and cool where you live, the added insulation in this siding is going to help maintain consistently comfortable levels inside your home, when they’re going up and down outside. You don’t want to pay for the fluctuations of Mother Nature, and insulated siding ensures that you won’t have to.

Here at Window Outfitters, we install Craneboard by Exterior Portfolio, an insulated vinyl siding that we believe many homes in the Twin Cities can benefit from. Not only does can it help lower your winter heating bills but also can keep your home comfortable indoors all year long. Contact us today – ask us how we can replace the siding and even the windows and doors to help improve your home’s energy efficiency.
