More Tips on Preparing for Your Replacement Window Project in Minneapolis

As a Minneapolis replacement window contractor who strives for exceptional customer service, we know that good communication is the key to satisfaction on both sides.  And if our customers are clear ahead of time on what to expect, that definitely helps.  (See our previous post with some things you should discuss ahead of time with your remodeling contractor, regardless of whether it’s our company or another one.)

Things You Can Do Before Your Replacement Window Contractor Starts the Work

Of course, our goal is that the project goes as smoothly as possible.  We will do our best, but there are things that you as the homeowner can do.  Here are some things that will help.

  • Clear the way ahead of time.  Know what areas your replacement window crew will need to work in, and then remove decorative items, furniture, etc.  This goes for inside and outside.  Keep in mind tight spaces and make sure that there’s nothing in the way for large items being brought in to the rooms they will be installed in.
  • Do what you can to minimize damage and disruption.  A licensed, professional Minnesota remodeling contractor will do their best to protect things, but you can help by removing fragile items from walls and shelves.  Remember there will be pounding and sometimes sawing that can cause vibrations, so moving breakable items is a wise idea.  Also cover your landscaping unless you’ve already arranged with your contractor to do so.
  • Remove blinds, shades, drapes, etc. Ask your contractor if they recommend removing the mounting hardware as well.  Sometimes the contractor will take care of this and then remount when finished, but be clear on whether that is the case.
  • If you have pets, it may be wise to either have them stay with someone else while the project is going on or secure them in another part of the house.  Some animals can become stressed by remodeling work, so know your pets. If strangers upset them, perhaps it’s a good idea to take them elsewhere until the job is done.  The same goes for children.  We know that many kids are schooling from home these days, and they may be curious about the work. But that can be a major safety issue. If your children will be at home, talk to your contractor about what they recommend.

As a trusted Minneapolis replacement window and exterior door company, we want you to be pleased with the results when you work with us.  We will do our best to communicate with you ahead of time so you know what to expect.
