New Year’s Resolutions for Your Home

So many Americans each year make New Year’s resolutions for themselves but hardly any of them make them for someone else or their homes. Eight out of 10 people make these resolutions, but about only 8% actually accomplish those goals. Their bars might have been set to high or they might just have given up because they do not feel it was worth it in the end. Home improvement projects for the New Year might be more appealing than others that you can make and they might actually get done if you plan them out just right and know what you’re planning them for. There is an end goal and you can feel good about it.

Home Improvement Ideas for 2015

01jan22c3a15Changing Your Home’s Lightbulbs:  Changing your lightbulbs throughout the inside and outside of your home to LED and CFL bulbs will give you a way to save additional money each month in your bill. You’re able to have a brighter light, less energy use, and more money saved in your pocket – all because you unscrewed the old bulbs and replaced them with the new. This should be an easy enough resolution.

Adding New Insulation:  Placing new insulation throughout your home can save you more money in those energy bills. When you have new insulation put in the walls and attic, you should have more heat saved then ever because you’re not letting it seep out through the walls into the outside. Sit comfortably within your home with new insulation throughout.  It will also help keep you cooler in the summer months.

Replacement Windows and Doors:  Replacement windows and doors throughout the home can make it look and feel different, but in a good way. You’re able to save more in your energy bills but also enjoy the new look. Boost the curb appeal when you change out the windows and make your home a stand-out in the neighborhood. There are many colors, styles and brands to choose from.  You’ll be more comfortable as well as proud of how your home looks.

New Siding or Roofing:  New siding and roofing are must-do items if the siding and roofing on your home are old. Without well-functioning exterior protection, your home would not be able to withstand the outdoor weather conditions we experience here in the Minneapolis area. Newer siding and roofing can make your home look beautiful as well. It can make your home look the best on the block and it can also mean that you’re paying less on your energy bills because new siding and roofing, when properly installed, will provide more energy efficiency, especially if you choose an insulated siding product, such as Crane insulated vinyl siding.  (You can check out how beautiful Crane siding looks on our Pinterest Siding Options board.)
