Replacement Windows for Your Burnsville or Prior Lake Home? Consider Something Different

If you’re in the market for replacement windows, consider giving your home a fresh new look.  Add some curb appeal while you lower your energy bills and all but eliminate window maintenance chores.  The most popular window is still the familiar single- and double-hung sliding windows, but there are many other options out.  Window Outfitters, one of the leading replacement window companies in the Minneapolis area, has lots of beautiful energy-saving and low-maintenance window solutions if you’re looking for something different.

  • Combine energy efficiency with ease of opening when you choose casement windows.  Because they open outward rather than sliding up and down, the window makes a tight seal.  The casement (and its cousin the awning) are the most tight-fitting of all operable windows.  The crank mechanism makes them perfect for hard-to-reach areas such as above your kitchen sink.
  • Awning windows are similar to casement windows, except that when cranked they open up rather than out.  Awnings are a great option to add above other windows.  They also work well when placed above eye level .  You can still maintain privacy while adding ventilation and light.
  • Bay and bow windows can dress up your home inside and out.  Because they extend out from the exterior wall, both light and ventilation can enter at the sides as well as the front.  Generally bay and bow windows have a large fixed center window flanked by operable windows on each side. This style of window works well in what would otherwise be a darker area – because the window section itself is three-dimensional, much more light enters through a bay or bow window than a flat surface window.
  • Consider adding a picture window in a room where ventilation is not a concern.  Picture windows provide a large open area for light to enter unobstructed.  If you desire ventilation, either double-hung or casement windows can be paired with a picture window.
  • Custom window configurations such as oval, triangle, half circle, etc. can be combined with any traditional window style to create your own unique look.  For instance, a large half-circle window over a patio door in a great room adds a lot of light and decorative interest.  Many premium replacement window companies offer almost unlimited custom design options.

Unless your home is in a historic district or your intention is to preserve the accuracy of its original design, you don’t have to replace your old, deteriorated windows with the same style.  If you’re not sure what would work best for your home, contact the replacement window experts at Window Outfitters today.  Consultations are always free, and if you’d like to see for yourself what beautiful window options are available, you can make an appointment at our showroom.   We’re in the business of helping Minneapolis area homeowners  beautify their homes when they replace their old windows.
