Stone Alternatives for Your Home’s Exterior

Are you thinking about spicing up your home with a stone exterior instead of the more inexpensive alternatives such as vinyl siding? We have some beautiful masonry options for you.

Real Stone
Real stone would be used on houses a long time ago in order to make them last and withstand weather in certain areas. These houses were made with sweat and tears; building a house’s exterior isn’t as simple as it may seem. These real stones are heavy and are now a days go through a long sorting process. They then must be made into walls correctly. These real stones however are much more expensive; because of the material and the harder installation process involved in creating them.

Alternatives:  Stone Facade Options from Boral

DSC_0045We are installers of Boral masonry products.  Their lines include:

  • Versetta Stone®: This is a panelized stone siding, an alternative to the real stone. Versetta Stone® still gives off the authentic look of real stone, but it costs less and is easier to install. This type of masonry is great for interior or exterior wall remodeling and or construction. It is also environmentally friendly as it is made up of 50% recycled materials. Versetta Stone doesn’t need to be coated or resealed, and it comes with a 50 year limited-warranty.
  • Cultured Stone®: This is  another alternative to real stone. Cultured Stone® is a manufactured masonry product made out of light aggregate recycled materials. They are produced in flexible molds that can be easily installed on walls and other surfaces. Cultured Stone® products are exact replicas of real stone, so they will offer the same amount of traditional beauty to your exterior.

Advantages To These Alternatives
Versetta Stone® and Cultured Stone® products are easier to install than genuine stone, because they fit together smoothly. This saves many hours spent by masons attempting to fit stones together. In fact, they fit together so easily that you could install them yourself if you please, saving installation costs.  Trained stone masons are needed for correct installation of genuine stone, but many siding companies such as Window Outfitters also install masonry products like Boral’s Versetta® or Cultured Stone®.

If you’ve got your heart set on real stone because you have a particular look in mind, you might be able to get the same appearance with a more economical option.  You can get Engineered stone is available in profiles such as limestone, granite, or even brick.

If you would like to create a beautiful exterior for your home without completely breaking the bank, then you should consider these time and money saving alternatives.  We can install both Versetta® and Cultured Stone® from Boral.  The home shown above is just one of the many homes we’ve installed Boral masonry products on.  Visit us on Pinterest to see just a few of the Boral masonry products available.
