We Have Options to Ramp Up the Appeal of Your New Mpls Replacement Windows!

We recently published an article about adding sidelights when you replace your front door or other exterior door.  One of the benefits of doing so is increasing the visual appeal.  There are other pluses as well, but how something looks should be taken into account when you’re remodeling your home.  Real estate professionals talk about the importance of curb appeal, but your personal satisfaction when you view your home and the elements that make it up also should be considered.  So when it comes time to replace your old, drafty windows with new energy-efficient ones, you might want to select some add-ons that will make those windows great to look at as well.  Here are some ideas:

  • Decorative grilles/grids/muntions:  These strips that break up a glass area into separate sections mimic a very traditional window style called divided light.  Older wood windows were actually constructed with wood strips running through the entire window, and then smaller panes of glass were set in between them.  Today’s modern windows replicate that look but with a solid sheet of glass.  Grilles are available in a variety of styles, and some companies offer them between the glass panes. You get the look without needing to dust! Plus it makes cleaning those windows easier.  An alternative is removable grids that can be popped out for cleaning ease.
  • Marvin Privacy Glass Options

Obscuring or art glass: Whether for decorative purposes or where privacy is needed,  selecting something other than a clear glass pane could make that window pop!  Shown above are some of the privacy glass choices available from Marvin. You can choose tinted glass as well.

  • Decorative casings: The material that surrounds your window frame is called the casing.  You can go for a simple casing, one that’s composed of several layers, or extremely ornate.  And choosing colored casings can add even more appeal.
  • Custom hardware: Many replacement window manufacturers now offer a variety of finishes in window hardware, other than the standard brass or chrome.  Oil-rubbed bronze, black, ivory, and even more!   Some window manufacturers even have options to upgrade the style of your hardware to something more decorative.

And don’t overlook the possibility of matching the interior finish on your new windows to the existing wood or painted trim in your rooms. Having coordinated finishes can really add to the visual appeal.  There are even more choices, and we’d love to show you what is available.  Don’t just settle for plain windows when you can add decorative options!
