What Are the Best Windows for Modern or Industrial Style Homes?

When you’re choosing new replacement windows, there are a lot of things that go into determining which windows are the right ones for you.  One factor that people often overlook is the architectural style of their homes.  You may be drawn to certain window styles or types, but for a home to look its best, coordinating windows with the home style is extremely important.  As a Minneapolis replacement window company, it’s something we strive for when working with Minneapolis area homeowners to select the perfect window solution for them, their home, and their budget.

It’s especially important if you’ve got a modern home or one with what’s referred to as industrial style.  While we specialize in windows for historic homes, we have plenty of experience with modern homes as well.  As older homes around the Twin Cities are being replaced, we are seeing more of these modern homes.  An interesting trend is commercial buildings being converted into residences, and so the ‘industrial style home’ is emerging as well.  These two styles are very similar, and what will work for one usually works for the other.

Shown here (photo courtesy of our friends at Marvin) is a converted commercial space.  Once an auto body shop, this building has found new life as a home.  One thing you should notice right off is the sleek lines of the window frames.  The minimalist look plays a big part in modern or industrial home design.  And that’s where Marvin’s fiberglass windows come in.  Fiberglass frames can be made thinner than other materials while retaining strength.  Also note the black window and door frames.  Black works well with the modern home style, and many of our window manufacturers offer black frames.

Another important consideration for choosing windows for these homes is maximizing light.  Modern homes are known for being light filled and airy.  Again, this is where Marvin’s fiberglass windows work well, because the thinner frames mean more visible light in the same size window opening.

Whether you’ve got an old Victorian style home or an ultra-modern one, we will work with you to come up with the right window package for your home.  Customer care for us means we’re not happy until you are.  Why not arrange a personal consultation today and find out just how happy you can be with your new replacement windows!
