What Are the Most Popular Front Door Colors for Minneapolis Homes?

Drive around the Minneapolis area and take note of which houses catch your eye. The ones that do have what real estate and home builders refer to as ‘curb appeal.’   While this characteristic involves a variety of elements, including landscaping, one of the most striking elements is the front entry area.  Your front door is basically the ‘welcome to our house’ message.  Is your front entry inviting?  Does it draw people’s attention?  Does it make your home stand out from those around it?  If your answer is no to these questions, perhaps what you need is a front door with color.

The Most Popular Front Door Colors

Double French doors from ProVia’s Heritage line of fiberglass entry doors, finished in Vallis Red

While colors tend to run in cycles (what’s in right now might fade in a year or two), there are some colors that are timeless and have stayed popular.  One of those is red.  Shown here the red double French doors are framed by snow white trim and set against neutral tan siding.  Red doors go well with neutrals, but they also work with white, gray, black, navy, and more.

Black is also one of those timeless door colors.   It works well with almost any other color.  The vivid contrast of black doors and window frames against white siding has been holding its place as one of the top home exterior looks for several years.  Choose a black front door and you’ll have a look that will never go out of style.  Want more color?  Surround that black door with a vivid color trim!

Following along with black, shades of gray and charcoal also are very popular and will work with most styles of architecture as well as other colors.

Vibrant colors such as deep pink and yellow are trending for 2024 for homeowners who would like something striking for their homes.  You can make sure your home is a stand-out from those around it!

Pastel lilac is a surprising popular front door color.  We’re seeing pastel doors pop up here and there, particularly those in the purple family.   Lilac pairs nicely with white and black as well as other colors.

Nature-inspired shades such as sage and pine green might be good color choices.  A home design trend for the past several years is the natural look, so choosing a front door color that reflects nature might be a great option.

Our most popular door supplier – ProVia – currently offers 32 different paint colors for its exterior doors.  There are also gorgeous colors in stains and glazes as well, in addition to the flat finish paint.  We’re confident that we can help you choose the perfect door color for your home and your taste.  Why not set up an appointment today at our Savage MN showroom?  We will meet with you one on one in private and explore what’s available.  ProVia – the doors most popular with our customers – offers the most extensive color choices of our door suppliers.  Marvin has a more limited palette available in its wood-clad doors, but we’d be happy to show you those as well.  We are authorized installers for Marvin and ProVia in the Minneapolis area.
