What Are the Top Trends in Windows for Minneapolis?

As THE replacement window company for the greater Minneapolis area – a company that specializes in energy-efficient windows – we pay attention to the trends. We realize that there are timeless, classic looks that remain very popular, but often trends indicate something happening in the window industry.   It may be an innovative product, or it may be a window that’s really caught on.  Or perhaps current trends are a reflection of what homeowners want.

Regardless of the reason a window type or look may be trending, we like to stay on top of what’s hot so we can offer our replacement window customers just what they’re looking for.

With that in mind, here are some top window trends we’ve noticed this year:

  • Black frames:  Black window and door frames have been ‘hot’ for a number of years.  Designers, architects, and homeowners love them.  And unlike some trends that come and go after a brief time, this is a look that’s been around for awhile and seems to be holding strong.  Why black?  For one thing, it can create a very dramatic appearance, like the home shown in the photos here.  For another reason, black windows are like the little black dress – they go with everything.  And since the farmhouse look (another home design trend) is still popular, black window frames go perfectly with farmhouse style.
  • Less Is More:  Thinner window frames and slim lines are at the top of this list!  Maximizing the most glass area in a window opening brings in more light than a window that might be broken up with grilles or grids or a thicker window frame.  Fiberglass window frames (such as those offered by Marvin) can be thinner and yet still as strong (or stronger) than a window frame of a comparable material due to the inherent strength and durability of fiberglass.  Along with the thinner frames, the style of window makes a difference.  Window styles such as casements and gliders don’t have glass that’s broken up by sashes in the middle, such as a double-hung or single-hung window.
  • Real Wood:  Nothing beats the richness of real wood, and many homeowners prefer wood windows for the natural appearance.  And while we offer a variety of maintenance-free fiberglass and vinyl windows that look like wood, you might want to consider wood windows that have maintenance-free exterior cladding that protects the window from the weather and eliminates the need for regular repainting or staining.

Whether you’re in the market for new replacement windows that have the classic appeal or you’re looking for up-to-the minute design, we’ve got just the right window solution for you.  Why not contact us today and get on our schedule while there’s time to take advantage of our window installation discount?  Save $140 per window opening now through January 1st.
