What Double Pane Windows Can Do for Your Minnesota Home

As a Minnesota replacement window contractor that specializes in windows for historic and older homes here in the Minneapolis area as well as other communities like Stillwater and Fairbault, we run into a lot of old single-pane windows.

Fun Fact:  The first double-pane window was introduced in 1952 by Andersen (a Minnesota company, then known as Andersen Lumber).

If your home was built before the 1960s and you still have your original windows, you most likely have single panes of glass.  Glass is a very poor insulator, and you’ve probably figured that out because those windows get cold in the winter, unless you have storm windows.  A cold window means a chilly home and high utility bills.  The answer?  Switch to replacement windows with double pane glass.  This infographic from our friends at Pella® lays out the benefits.
