Window & Door Trends for 2023 in Minneapolis Home Design

Just like the real estate professionals and designers are doing, we’re paying close attention to emerging home design trends for 2023.  Doors and windows are important elements in any home, in this post we thought we’d touch on some hot trends that might encourage you to replace your exterior doors and windows this spring.  (And by the way, our Minneapolis replacement window company is currently booking for spring and summer installation, and we’ve got plenty of open spots if you have remodeling plans that include doors and windows.)

2023: The Housing Market Is HOT!

Even with inflation and the increase in home mortgage interest, it’s definitely a seller’s market for homes.  We’ve heard reports from real estate agents that some homes are selling OVER asking price within days of a home being listed.  If you’ve been tempted to buy a new home because your current one doesn’t fit your family’s lifestyle anymore, you may want to pause.  You could be overpaying.  It just might make more sense to do some remodeling in your current home.

Why the rush to buy a new home?  It may be fueled by developments over the past two years that have people working, schooling, and relaxing in their homes more.  Houses that were just fine for coming home at the end of the day, eating dinner, and relaxing before bedtime no longer facilitate a home-centered life.  Think in terms of replacement windows and doors that will be more conducive to daytime living, like those that let in plenty of natural light and air, or patio doors that allow you to move seamlessly between indoor and outdoor living.  ‘Staycation’ is a popular term now – spending your vacation at home.  Could a few changes to your home make that workable for you?

Think BIG!

Mental health professionals stress the importance of sunlight and natural views for more positive moods as well as reducing stress, anxiety, and even depression.  This is where bigger windows and doors come in.  In fact, some homeowners we’ve worked with have opted to replace windows with patio doors!  The door industry has seen in increase in average door glass size by 10% or more, and there is a growing demand for multi-panel patio doors such as the NextGen slider from Weather Shield®, as well as bi-fold sliding doors.  Larger glass area with slimmer frames such as those offered by Marvin’s fiberglass windows can increase sunlight coming in without enlarging a window opening.  Check out the living room shown here – this corner window configuration is almost floor to ceiling.

If you’d like to hop on the home design trend bandwagon for 2023 by replacing your windows and/or exterior doors, reach out to us for a free consultation.  We can meet with you in your home, evaluate your current windows and doors, and then suggest solutions that can turn your home into the space you need for your lifestyle now.
