2021 Minneapolis Replacement Window Trends: Bigger Is Better

We like to keep Minneapolis area homeowners informed as to current window trends, since no one wants a home that looks outdated or doesn’t function the best. We recently shared what we believe are the top two issues: environmentally friendly windows as well as maximizing natural light and fresh air.  Now, some trends come and go quickly, but we believe these two concepts are going to be more permanent.  But here are some other current window trends you might want to consider if it’s time to replace your existing windows.

Check Out These Two 2021 Replacement Window Trends

Designers and architects are incorporating some of these trends in their new homes as well as remodeling projects.  Maybe one or more of these is just what your home needs!

  • Oversized Picture Windows: This one goes right along with maximizing natural light.  If you’ve got a great view, why not take advantage of it?  In some homes we’ve seen, a fixed window takes up almost the entire wall.  If your concern is for ventilation, you can pair a large picture window with awning or slider windows at the bottom.  Bottom ventilation is perfect, because it pulls in the cooler air near the ground.
  • Sliding Doors: Surprised that we’d put doors down as a window trend?  Sometimes the best replacement window solution is actually a door.  And don’t limit your vision to the standard two-panel patio slider; several of our manufacturers – like Marvin and Weather Shield – have multi-panel siding doors, with three or even four sections.  You’re only limited by the space you have.  And this trend fits in with the oversize trend – you get plenty of natural light, plus you’ve got access to the outdoors.  Windows that make your outdoor space more accessible are definitely on-trend as well.  Check out the looks below, ProVia’s four-panel configuration with three sliding sections.  Or you might opt for Weather Shield’s NextGen contemporary slider, named one of the best architectural products for 2019.
