Adding Storm Doors to Your Home? Why You Might Consider Black Doors

As the seasons change here in the Minneapolis metro and things are warming up, we’re seeing homes with their entry doors open.  Well, at least the homes that have storm doors do.  That’s just one of the advantages of having storm doors installed over your entry doors: depending on the style of door, you might get more sunshine in or even fresh air with a screened door.  Of course, deciding on the type of storm door you want is probably your first choice.  But then there is the question of frame color.  May we suggest black?

Once almost exclusively used for commercial and industrial applications, black storm doors are quickly taking over the residential scene.  You may have noticed that high contrast exterior color palettes are very popular right now, with the black and white combo taking center stage.  But black is a terrific neutral that works with just about any color exterior products such as windows and siding, regardless of what color your entry door is.

For several years now we’ve noticed how black window frames seem to be the #1 choice when homeowners replace their windows.  So it just seems to make sense that storm door manufacturers would make black door frames available as well. But even if your window frames are another color, adding a black storm door to your front door can really draw attention and focus to your entry area.

Like the little black dress in fashion, the black storm door is always the right choice.  You get both elegance and on-trend edginess at the same time.  Black offers a crispness that no other color can match.  Shown in this photo is a decorator storm door from ProVia, with beveled glass and brass inlay.  Notice how the black door contrasts with the neutral siding and trim colors and coordinates with the black sunburst feature on the gable?  The tront door area really pops! (Of course, the coordinating side lights help reinforce the image.)

We offer a good selection of storm doors from ProVia and Mon-Ray, and black doors and hardware are available.  Of course, if you prefer another color, there are other shades you can choose from. Not sure what’s right for your home?  We’d be happy to assist in you choosing.  We are THE replacement window company for the Minneapolis area, and we’re quickly becoming THE door company as well.  It’s easy to arrange a free in-home quote or a private appointment at our showroom in Savage
