Decorative Glass Can Add a Touch of Elegance to Your Front Entry Door

If you can only make one change to your home this year, replace your front door.  There are a number of reasons to do so, but here are a few.  First, no home improvement project pays off in terms of increase in home value better than exterior projects.  And according to recent reports, the number one improvement is a front entry door.   And with the new federal tax credits covering up to $500 towards the cost of exterior door replacements, there couldn’t be a better time to change out your old door for a more energy-efficient and attractive one.

Your front entry is the first thing most people notice when they approach your house.  So whether you’re going for maximum curb appeal or providing a welcoming atmosphere for your guests, make the most of it with a front door that makes a statement about you and your home.  Choosing a distinctive door that fits in with your home’s architectural style is the first step.  The next is considering whether you’d like glass – in the door and/or around it (side lights and transoms).  If you choose glass, there is a vast array of decorative glass options available from many manufacturers.  Decorative glass is also called “art glass,” and with good reason.  Some configurations are very basic, while others have an elegant artistic quality to them.  You can choose from various obscure patterns, or others with insets which resemble leaded glass.  Other decorative glass options have grids or grilles.  Some are even colored.

Glass inserts in front doors – partial or full – plus sidelights have the advantage of not only accenting your entry way but they also bring light into the interior.  This can be a great benefit if the interior of your front entry is somewhat dark.  Letting the sun shine in through and around your door will brighten things up.

Window Outfitters carries a number of quality entry doors from companies such as ProVia, Pella and Marvin.  If you’d like to see for yourself the difference a door with decorative glass can make, please call us to schedule an appointment at our product showroom.  We are currently offering $500 off on each entry door scheduled before the end of February 2013.
