Expand Your View with Replacement Bay and Bow Windows

If you’re seeking to update or refresh your home’s exterior and you’re planning on replacing your windows, why not consider adding a bay or bow window?   Though similar in construction (one large window flanked by two smaller side windows), there is a difference.  Bay windows extend out in a rectangular box while the side windows are angled in bow windows.  But what both window types have in common is that they bring more light into the interior of your room than an ordinary flat window.  Since they extend out from the exterior wall, there is much more additional glass area to let in sunlight, even though the window itself takes up the same two-dimension area on the wall as a regular double-hung or casement window of the same size.    And they’re a great way to add ventilation to a picture-window area as well.

Bay and bow windows are a great way to add a unique design element to your home, both on the outside and the inside.  These windows can be manufactured with a variety of configurations – whether you’re looking for an overall picture-window effect or you’d like the ventilation of operable side windows, and whether you’d like the traditional look of window grilles…at Window Outfitters we’ll be happy to help you choose among the wide range of premium replacement window lines available from such companies as Pella, Andersen, ComfortLine, Owens Corning, and others.  There are even garden window (also known as greenhouse windows) options available if you’d like to add a little nature by bringing the natural beauty of growing plants indoors.

Another benefit of adding a bay or bow window is that you’ve got space for additional seating or a decorative display area, all without increasing the size of your room.  Bay or bow windows can be beautiful additions to any home, any style, any period.  Whether you’ve got a traditional older or historic home whose architectural design you wish to preserve, or you’ve got a home with an up-to-date, contemporary feel, there are bay and bow windows that will fit with your home’s profile as well as your personal style.
