New Federal Tax Credit Will Save You Some Green When You Add Green

The recent deal entered into by Congress and the White House to avert the fiscal cliff crisis will result in tax increases for many homeowners, but there is a little bit of good news in all this.  According to a report in Forbes, the legislation includes an energy tax credit of up to $500 for any non-business home improvement that results in energy savings.  The even better news is that the remodeling doesn’t have to be a major undertaknig – something as small as replacing your entry doors with more insulating models can qualify.  Energy-efficient windows are also on the list.

There’s an additional cost savings to take into consideration when contemplating more energy-efficient renovations.  When you replace your current building component with one that’s better insulated or controls heat transfer more efficiently, you’ll also save on your heating and cooling bills.  Combine that with the tax credit, and you could really save some green!

If you have questions about windows and doors which might qualify for this new federal tax credit, please give us a call.
