Put Away That Paintbrush – Install Insulated Vinyl Siding Instead

Spring is home improvement season in the Twin Cities, and after a dreary window sprucing up the exterior of your home can be a great project.  If the outside of your home is looking a little rough, you may have started looking at paint colors for a face lift.  But before you buy that paint or hire a painting contractor, may we suggest that you consider an economical alternative?  Yes, insulated vinyl siding will cost you more up front than a paint job, but in the long run it will save you money as well as time.  Here’s why.

Durability:  Depending on the manufacturer, vinyl siding can last up to 50 years.  Even the best paint job might need to be redone every 5-7 years.  That means 7-10 paint jobs to one siding installation.  The cost savings alone on repainting will more than pay for the siding in much less time.  And to be sure you’re accurately figuring the savings, keep in mind that for paint job to be long-lasting, that means stripping the existing paint, re-priming, and applying at least two coats.    And wood absorbs moisture, so over time the paint will bubble, crack, or flake in various areas.

Maintenance:  Most vinyl siding products are practically maintenance-free; just a periodic hose-off removes dirt and dust, refreshing the finish.  With a painted surface, you’ll find that from time to time you need to touch up certain areas that get exposure to the elements more than others, for instance on the north side.  And periodic re-caulking is necessary with painted wood siding to make sure you’re keeping out as much moisture as possible.

Energy Savings: Insulated vinyl siding provides not only a long-lasting and attractive finish for your home’s exterior, it also will help you save on your heating and cooling bills because it provides another layer of protection between your home’s interior and the outside temps.

Insulated vinyl siding also has the advantage of “smoothing over” any imperfections in the underlying structure, providing a smooth and even finished product.  And the foam insulation behind Crane’s siding means that it holds up well to impact, better than cheaper vinyl products.  Window Outfiftters is proud to install Crane vinyl siding products.  Crane has a reputation as a pioneer of many of the technologies common to the vinyl siding industry today, and they are currently a leader in the market.  Crane siding is known as a long-lasting, quality product, and they are committed to customer satisfaction.

Before you take a look at paint colors this spring, take a look at Crane insulated siding.  Protect and beautify your home, save money on your energy bills, and cut down on your exterior upkeep. And if you install energy-saving siding in 2013, you could qualify for up to $500 in federal income tax credits.  Doesn’t that sound like a great combination?
