The Problem with Gutters

Gutters are there to serve one purpose, one purpose only. They serve as a way for water to be diverted from the said structure. This is to prevent any problems that might arise from water pooling in one area. If there are leaves and other debris built up in that one area then they are not serving their purpose. If it is pooling in one area, it will deplete that area and seep into the actual inside of the home instead of staying on the outside. Mold, mildew and algae can then begin growing on the walls and in the carpets. If the weight of the debris and the water in the gutter becomes too heavy, it can actually give way and collapse into the home. All it takes is 15 minutes of your time once a week or every other week to clean out the gutters.

Don’t Ignore Those Termites

If there is sawdust on the floor, check above the dust. This can be a problem with termites that are living in the ceiling. You need to make sure to address the problem right away because they can get out of hand if you do not. The whole structure can be compromised if they continue to eat away at it. They will continue to eat and eat, as well as expand on their family which can contain a million termites or more!

Have You Got Worries with Water?

If there are small pools of water anywhere throughout your home, look to find the problem and then have someone come in and fix it. Water can lead to so many different problems such as mold, rust, dampness and even sogginess. This is not good for the structure or your health. This moisture is also able to attract termites to the area.

Watch for Encroachment of Tree and Shrub Roots

This is not for the small root bases that you find in the garden, but those of a giant oaks that is sitting right next to your home in the backyard. The roots are not only strong but they have the potential to break apart the foundation of your home which then destroys the pipes, lines and soon the whole home. Keep tabs on where the roots are at all times since you want to know where this threat is.
